Catskill Game Farm (Closed) Black-Footed Cat

    I found this article that Black-Footed Cats were first bred in North America by Roland Lindemann at the Catskill Game Farm in 1960.

    How many american zoos currently have Black-Footed Cats.

    According to ISIS, 16 North American instiutions house black-footed cats.

    Catskill was actually the first place outside Africa to have had black-footed cat births, but the young did not survive in any of their breeding attempts. The first successful breeding in captivity (as in young actually being reared to adulthood) was at Wuppertal in Germany in 1963.

    I should probably have added there that the female of Wuppertal's pair came from Catskill in 1962 on breeding loan. I think she may have been the last of Catskill's black-footed cats but I'm not sure on that.
