    Blackpool Zoo 2015

Sad news this morning on Blackpool Zoo facebook page:

"We are sad to have to inform you that Indra, one of our beloved Asian elephants, has passed away aged 50.

Indra was rescued from the bankrupt Berlin Circus in 1999 and brought to Blackpool, where she lived happily for the past 16 years.

Indra was an extremely popular member of our zoo family and was well loved by all of our visitors.

Staff and keepers are extremely saddened at her passing. Indra will be missed by us all"

Sorry to hear this sad news about Indra, and less than a year after Marcella died, leaving Katey on her own now at Blackpool.

Very sad indeed. Does anybody know what plans blackpool have for elephants after katey passes as I beleive she is also quite elderly?

'Kate' was one of the first two elephants to arrive at the zoo when it first opened in 1972. 'Kate' arrived with one of the other females, 'Crumples' who died in 2009, I believe. The main project this year was to revamp the Elephant and Reptile house to just hold the Elephants from what I've heard from the talks.

Such a shame to loose Marcella in 2014, and then Indra in 2015. Great animals.

I think we need a feature which before you post it asks "Are you sure you want to post?" if yes "Are you really sure you want to post this?".

    Yes I did.
But I'm sorry that you don't like puns or perhaps you didn't get the joke (Hint: look up 'mew' in a good dictionary ;))
I frequently start posts and then change my mind before I actually post them.
