For anyone who doesn't do Facebook - the new arrivals are 0.2 hybrid Giraffe. Both from Marwell (Tiya B2008 and Olympia B2012)

A collared finchbill recently hatched, Blackpool is one of 2 collections in Europe holding this species (zootiereliste reference)

Contrary to what seems to be the norm, we should all be really worried about the future of Blackpool Zoo and the seeming demise of Aspro.

Never trust an investment group or company. They only look at profits, not quality of content. Merlin has a history … or two on the subject.

Cool bird, never heard of it before, seems like a good addition to any Asian aviary ;)

It used to be quite a commonly kept bird in the UK in the 70s and 80s, certainly in private hands at least.

There are still a few private breeders in the UK but they're obviously not as common as they were before the import ban. They were also kept at amazon world last year I'm not sure why it's been removed from zootierliste.

I am visiting Blackpool Zoo on Thursday - is there anyone on this forum from the Reptile House (or knows someone who is) that would be able to meet me? :)

At some point next week, Radzi the Amur tiger will be leaving and embarking on a 1,500 mile journey to Zoo Santo Inácio near Porto in Portugal. They already have a three year old female Amur tiger, named Mila, and are hoping that Radzi will one day be her breeding partner.

Been looking at peoples comments on the Facebook page and it looks like Rachel the African Lion, Khari (the latest cubs) mum has passed away. :(
