    Good to hear that the new Director has exiting plans the. Hopefully Blackpool will continue to grow sucsessfully.

    Good news for Blackpool Zoo i was up there today and the main frame for the new giraffe house is up on the south side of the zoo by the lions !!!

    also news is that thay are expanding the sealion pool and getting in penguins in the next year or so .

    plans are also in place to get white rhino back soon

    Oh no, that's awful! :( Thank goodness the orang only got into a staff area - that's bad enough though. I really hope this doesn't get too much publicity, I love Blackpool Zoo and I think they get far more than their share of negative attention. If people would give it a chance, they'd find a zoo just as good as some of the big boys!

    Is it strange behaviour for a female orang to exhibit that kind of aggression to her keeper? Or is it the norm?

    Apparently that individual was hand-reared, so it could be related to her upbringing...

    Most of the bad PR is to do with Blackpool's protocols regarding hands-on training of elephants.
