On a brief visit between the heavy rain showers yesterday afternoon I was very surprised to find a very youg magpie gosling with its very protective parents in one of the pens . The parents had been nesting when I last visited , I assumed it would be too late in the season for them to hatch the eggs . The baby bird is a very strange looking creature , as are the adults I suppose . Given the time of year I do wonder if it will survive . See a couple of pics. in the Gallery .
