Great news, did the female come from Leipzig this year?

She and the male came in March from Leipzig, so it seems they were conceived in Bristol itself, which is a nice first ;)

Was just browsing Zootierliste and noticed Bristol is now listed as a holder for Goodfellow's tree kangaroo. Does anyone know where the animal(s) in question came from? I've tried looking myself and couldn't find any mention of it elsewhere.

Wow. Shock news as she was probably my all-time favourite gorilla.:( I did notice in a recent photo of her though that she looked to have lost a lot of weight compared to her normal tubby self. I remember when her parents Samson and Lomie were brought together for mating at Bristol. One thing they have wrong is that her first baby was born at London ,not Chessington. Fortunately her two sons born at Bristol survive her and Komale is already in a group with females at BeekesBergen.

Very sad to hear this, I too remember seeing her as a baby at London in 1976.
Just got back from a great day at Whipsnade and this has taken the shine off it somewhat!

It left Perth Zoo for Bristol. That's probably a good enough confirmation.

All I can say is how irritating it is that 3 collections in England have one and they are all currently offshow!!

Not for much longer though, thanks to the busy builders at Chester! :D

I wouldn't be surprised if the species goes onshow at Bristol too before this time next year, all things considered; I would, however, be surprised if the species goes back on-display at London anytime soon.

At least the Dusky Pademelons that have come in recently to a couple of UK zoos are on show though.
