Here are some drawings of what 'Madagascar' will look like...it look amazing from the sketches, like a mini version of Jungleworld and definitely the best lemur exhibit I have ever seen.

    Thoughts?

Seems like all the zoos are now eager to jump on the "Madagascar" bandwagon... So far, only the Zurich and the Pilsen approach to this subject really convinced me.

Thanks for posting this link. The concept looks interesting & attractive, combing "old-school" facade architecture with modern animal-"habitat" presentation and formal high society events. Unfortunately, I think certain aspects will just work on the paper, but not in reality (like the abundance of plants at the Ring-Tailed Lemur exhibit or the minimal glass walls).

One question remains: do they know that that's not a snowleopard on the old photo...?;)

@aw101: thanks for the link, even though I saw all of those photos sometime last year. It was well worth seeing them again, as the drawings are quite beautiful. I'm going to be visiting the Bronx Zoo in July, and will post a review of the highly-anticipated "Madagascar" set of exhibits.

OK, I got a huge laugh out of those pictures!

I know the building well (it was built in 1907, I think) and only part of it is to be used for these exhibits (as you see there is to be a "Great Hall"). The interior is simply not large enought to do what the pretty pictures show, unless Dr. Who contributed his technology.

I can't to see the Madagascar Exhibit. Does anyone know what other kind of animals will be on display beside the usually ruffed lemur, ringtails, and fossa?

Other species I have heard will be included are: Red Fody, Greater Vasa Parrot, Ringtailed Mongoose (!), Sifaka (Verraux's I think), Collared Lemur, Leaf-tailed Gecko, Hedgehog Tenrec, Mouse Lemur, Tomato Frog, Tree Boa, Radiated Tortoise, Nile Crocodile (13 and 14 foot specimens!), Day Gecko, Madagascan Cichlids.

It will be a fantastic exhibit--as always at the Bronx. I smell yet another AZA Exhibit Award winner......

A ringtailed Mongoose! This would be a first for me. Yep, Madagascar is now on my list of must see exhibit.

I'll most likely post a review of the new Madagascar exhibit, and the Bronx Zoo as a whole, before the end of July. But Zooplantman should be the first to visit...

They look terrific. Thanks for finding them

I enjoyed seeing little things...like the Pachypodiums in the spiney forest exhibits that were "augmented" by rebar made to resemble Pachypodiums.

It must be deafening in that building in the morning!

The videos, though, are by the Bronx Zoo media dept, so the exhibit isn't open to the public until the weekend.

The Bronx Zoo's 'Madagascar!' goes into the wild

The San Diego Zoo does exhibit Fossa, so obviously this article is not 100% accurate. It also states that there are only 2 ring tailed lemurs when there are at least 6 in the video clip. The exhibits look amazingly realistic especially the low forested habitat for the ring tailed lemurs.

Are there not many of these in captivity?
I think Berlin zoo might have them, but I'm not sure...
