    Allie has lost calves previously. I wonder if it had to do with the previous sire, Semo. He is quite old for a dolphin and wonder if his DNA material might be showing that, as I think both of the calves he sired at Six Flags also perished. Allie has had successful rearing in the past.

    Maybe they just weren't a good pairing. Maybe they both have some lethal gene and passed it on to their calves. Or maybe it was just bad luck. That said the fact that he has lost calves born from other females tips the balance in favor of his having bad genetic material I suppose. Given that he is a senior citizen in dolphin years maybe it is his age.
