It's possible, but more likely that the Pangolin Conservation organization (which is behind this sudden influx of pangolins) has more. However, PC is rather secretive (some even say shady) so we don't really know how many they have. From their media I've been able to confirm that they have had at least 2.3 recently- but if they are the source (i.e. while these are all wild caught [as far as we know], they spent time at the PC facility rather than going straight to zoos) then I imagine it is a significant amount more. Regardless, Brookfield does hold the most out of the other American institutions. I don't know if any places elsewhere with more pangolins.
I heard 3 other AZA zoos have gotten tree pangolins. Brookfield is the only confirmed zoo at this point.
I'm now aware of 4 zoos in the USA, besides Brookfield, which hold Tree Pangolins. San Diego isn't one of them. I really hope the other zoos will soon 'go public' with the news.
I have a question. When the new year hits should I make a Brookfield zoo news 2017 thread? Or should we stick to this one?
@pachyderm pro : This one has gotten pretty long, so if you wanted to make a new one I wouldn't object.
After contiplating with my self and other members, I happy to announce that by the end of the month a new thread will serve as the detacated news, info, and discussion thread for the Brookfield zoo. Will post when it goes up in the next few weeks.
That makes me wonder if Maddie's mother, Gwen, passed away and they sent Maddie somewhere else to mate. That would mean the Maryland Zoo no longer has Dik Dik.
A new thread has been posted as the new news thread for the zoo, please use this from now on. Brookfield Zoo - Brookfield Zoo News 2017 & Beyond
