I am not surprised by this. Emus are not the most friendly creatures, and I don't think it was the smartest idea to have them in a walk-through enclosure.
The okapi calf born in May is now on exhibit. The female waterbuck have been absent on my last 3 visits, I suspect that either one or both could have given birth to a calf, though its just speculation. My pangolin streak has still not come to an end. This makes 6 consecutive visits seeing it awake each time (This should make at least a couple of you jealous ) Sense keepers are openly talking about this, I see no reason to keep it secret any more. Early last year, the zoo received a group of togo slippery frogs, a species recently thought to have been extinct. They are currently the only holder outside of Africa to hold these specimens, and they are currently behind the scenes.
There have not been any pangolin births recently at Brookfield or any other AZA zoo. The last Brookfield birth was in April of 2017

The yearling wolves and this year's pups will be staying put in 2018. This winter, the males will stay with the males and vice versa. Adult female Zana will be artificially inseminated with sperm from a genetically valuable male. 4 Pekin robins from the NC Zoo are being kept behind the scenes in the Tropic World building for breeding purposes.
1.1 Lowland Tapir arrived at the Zoo in November from the Center for the Conservation of Tropical Ungulates. They will be off-exhibit until the spring but can sometimes be seen in the east side of the Pachyderm House if the angles line up correctly.
