Todays visit @Ursus and I found a few things - two Victoria Crowned Pigeon chicks in the nest near the Coca Cola shack - the hanging parrots on the adventure route - possible screaming piha young (see my media for a pic) - the female striped basilisk in the mangrove had a weird eggshaped item next to her, but I am not sure if it actually is an egg.
Update on the baby bears! They seem to be fine and are exploring a bit around behind the scenes. it will still be weeks until they will appear to the public https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=379429802712349
If the Bears cooperate, both Sun bear cubs will be visible from Friday 26th onwards in the indoor enclosure. source: fb Burgers Zoo
Is there any information about how they sun bear cubs will be later on introduced to the binturongs? Or if those will even be on display during the time the cubs will be all cute and adorable to the people? I've not seen the Binturongs for a long time, I know they are still sometimes let out? But I wonder if there's a known rotation or something.
With the new Binturong female being quite terrestrial they want to avoid conflict. The Binturong are now out at night time, when the bears are inside.
Looks like it; they are let out as soon as the outdoor exhibit is 'bear-free', which yesterday was at least past 5:30 and I guess they can go in and out of their indoor enclosure during night time.
Today visited the zoo. Sun bear cubs were a reall delight to see. Although you have to be luckly, i saw them after three attemps. I also heard the rumour today in the zoo that the other female sun bear also had a cub. Which would be extraordanary.
Situation has apparently changed as this afternoon a Binturong and the male Sun bear were outside together. Both sun bear cubs showed themselves as well earlier on the day.
The birth of another sun bear to the other female has just been confirmed by the zoo on Facebook. The cub was born on July 16th and is apparently doing fine!
