I think a calf is very likely in Calgary for 2017 however Toronto is still out. A female giraffe is not supposed to breed until she is 4 and has reached a certain size. Mstari is still too young and small.

The zoo will be receiving black and white ruffed lemurs as one of their new inhabitants of Land of the Lemurs. They are trying for European imports but US stock is a possiblity too.

Calgary Zoo expecting new 'black and white ruffed' lemur in its new exhibit - 660 NEWS

There will also be 8 ring tailed lemurs arriving from the Bronx, Joanna, Shelley, Celeste, Hannah, Sophie, Bonnie, Gigantra, and Saboo. None will get a breeding recommendation because their pedigree is unknown.

Horrible news from the zoo. Seven humboldt penguins have drowned. Its extremely unusual because well they are penguins and built to be at sea for months at at time.

There is now a call to shut down the penguin exhibit because of the deaths. How typical, jump to conclusions without facts. The zoo doesn't even know what happened yet. Let them investigate and if the zoo was negligent some how then fair enough. At this point it could have been some freak one of situation that is extremely unlikely to ever happen again.

New petition calls for Calgary Zoo’s Penguin Plunge to close down

Not really surprising by this petition, but I do agree with @TZFan. Let's do some investigating first.

The zoo does actually know what happened, as do I, however I will respect their privacy as they have not released anything publicly on the matter.

Sufficient to say, it was not the zoo's fault and it was indeed just a freak accident that is indeed very unlikely to happen again.

Glad to know they figured it out so quickly. If they need to defend themselves I'm sure they will make the cause of the panic known. But good to hear it was just a freak accident not negligence.

Female hammerkop is due in from Franklin Park.

The African spoonbills are to breed.

The southern bald ibises are related but will be allowed to breed for demographic purposes.

The last of the zoo’s European white storks has been moved from the zoo.

The spur-winged lapwings are over represented and will not be breeding.

The new male Przewalski’s horse will get a chance to breed with one of the two younger females.

The last of the Grevy’s zebras, Shelly Ann, is to go to Saint Louis where she is to breed. At twenty that might be a long shot since her daughter Lori Ann was her last baby and that was 16 years ago.

The colobus’ will have lots of babies soon. All three females, Roberta, Mosi and Kima, are recommended to breed with Toby. Male BK is now too old to breed.

One of the male mandrills. Babu, is set to head to Memphis. The eldest male, Yusufu, is to be used in an attempt to try AI with two females from Granby. The middle male, Tumbili, is to stay with Yusufu.

Two of the female Japanese macaques, Lorie and Shawna, have recommendations to breed with male Chaplin.

Two female Gentoo penguins will arrive from Sea World San Diego.

Three chicks a year are hoped for from the King penguins.

The Humboldt penguins are to breed freely.

The Rockhoppers will not breed. All three are males.

The red panda cubs will be moving to Greenbay where one will breed with Qila and the other serves as a companion for Addison, while their parents Dusk and Sakura breed again.
