What are sea turtles fed in captivity? How does it differ between the different species?

Diets for them are fairly basic. Greens, Hawksbills and the two Ridley species consume primarily vegetables, with different varieties of lettuce usually being the main portion of the diet. Other food items include broccoli, other "large leafy greens" such as kale and bok choy, sweet potato, bell peppers, tomato, and carrots.

Loggerheads, which are primarily carnivorous, are fed mainly fish, squid, shrimp and at some facilities a gel diet meant specifically for fish eating marine animals, however they will consume plant matter as well. The Ridley's usually have larger amounts of fish/squid in their diets as well. Greens and Hawksbills, although they enjoy fish and squid, are fed mainly on plant based diets.

Another food item that can be fed to all species are an assortment of pellets and gel diets, however use will vary from facility to facility.

Leatherbacks mainly eat jellyfish in the wild. They are therefore very difficult (or virtually impossible) to keep in captivity.
