I saw this chick in September, glad to hear it's doing well.

    Hi all,

Could anyone who has been to the zoo recently tell me if it still has the following species, and if so, where I might be able to find them if they're on exhibit?

    Kagu
    Philippine duck
    Buff-banded rail
    Pink-eared duck

    Thanks in advance!

    Jay

The Kagu and rail I've never seen on-exhibit nor are there signs for them. The ducks should be in the pond in the Children's Zoo, though Philippine Duck will be easily seen at Bronx.

Do you know how they acquired it? I've never seen or heard of that species before.

San Diego and Miami also have the species in America. It may possibly be available in the private trade, I know the black-headed gonolek (which seems to only be kept publicly in America at the National Aviary) is. They seem to be rather shy: I missed the species at Miami and I know a friend who spent quite a while searching for one at a different zoo.

3 black and white ruffed lemurs have been born at the zoo to second time mother Kintana. They are currently on exhibit in the tropics zone.

In the past they had (6,1) I believe. Its was a nonbreeding family group. But they must have swapped some, to create a breeding situation.

Several in the zoo's gallery, not sure if the aviary has a specific name, though.

Only kept at Central Park; the bird at Pittsburgh died. Available in the bird trade as well.
