    Hi all,

I can remember reading somewhere that Cheetahs were held at Taronga in the late 1990's or perhaps early 2000's.

Was just wondering where in the zoo they were held and how many there were, and how long they were there for and where they went!

    Thanks in advance

they were held in the big cat exhibits. They weren't there long. I think they ended up in Dubbo.

The only Cheetah I recall were held at Taronga in 1978, in an open-topped enclosure on Wild Dog Row, which would have been next to where the tapir/pygmy hippo exhibit is, opposite the snow leopards. They stayed for a few months before going to Dubbo.

    :p

Four young cheetah (born 2000) arrived from South Africa in late 2001, and were quarantined at Taronga Zoo, prior to being sent to Taronga Western Plains Zoo a month later. I believe they were on display during this quarantine period but I'm not sure where. There names were Jala, Masuka, Shakarri and something beginning with K (Kifarri?)
