Visiting again this coming weekend, any updates to the chimp group? Last time I was there 15 of them were onshow, with Boris, Kiki, Vila, Chrissie and Patti offshow, though these two groups switched over the day after we left. I heard a rumour Boris has been returned to the main group?

I didn't have much time to watch the chimps on either of my visits last week, and I don't know them well enough to distinguish the females. I did see Dylan, and old Wilson and Nicky, but not Boris. Sorry I can't be more definite.

I also visited today, I noticed a couple of things that I noticed:

-Signage on Gambian Pouched Rat enclosure removed and windows covered
-In the Monkey House, You can only go as far as the Spider Monkey with Madrill, Lion-Tailed Macaque and Capauchin indoors where shut off for construction work
-The West African Crowned Cranes had a chick
-I saw 4 Painted Dogs together today
-Work has begun on the former Condor Aviary with half of the netting removed
-One Sun Bear (I'm pretty sure the female) has moved over to the Jaguar House with the other still in the former Tiger enclosure
-There are now Amazon Milk Frogs in the Tropical Realm Amphibian Pod in the one closest to Crocs (I think formally Morelet's Tree Frog)

I got to see the Cotton Top Tamarin, Northern Luzon Cloud Rats (My highlight) and the Prevost's Squirrel (Who where both really active)

    Will upload some photos now

That is a fair number of changes. Just one thing I know that the zoo should have 5 Hunting Dogs.

I have checked my notes they should have had 5 dogs but 1 never arrived so 4 is the correct number to be seen.

The males came from Colchester and the females from Port Lympne

it was on this page - http://www.zoochat.com/38/chester-zoo-2016-1-a-433962/index7.html - where it was said the condors have left the zoo and the aviary was closed with a sign about renovation.

    It's to become a European-themed aviary.

A replacement for, or in addition to, Europe on the Edge?

If it's a replacement then I hope it actually has some species that are in danger and not like many of the species currently held in Europe on the edge.

Part of the name redevelopment as the old tiger enclosure, perhaps? Given that the two are adjacent

    Visited today, few notes:

    - Tree shrews very active, potentially due to new neighbours/new enclosure furnishings?

    - Sithami and Sundara look pregnant. No confirmation, but their bellies look particularly big.

    - We saw 8 of the 10 black rhinos!!!! Can I just ask who is in which paddock? I know Kitani and Magadi are in the onshow house, but we saw three in the paddock behind warthogs and another three in the offshow paddocks (from the car park).

    - Aardvark outside!!!!!! :O

    - Cassowary very active.

    - Saw the chattering lories for the first time!!

    - Has either Tripa or Tuti lost a lot of hair? One of the slightly bigger tots was very moth eaten...

    - Dead leaf mantis offshow (formerly next to the orb weavers in the Tripa research station.

    - What are the species of lizard between the forest dragons and the macaques?

    - Saw old Sausu. Are there now six babirusa? (Saw three at different times in Islands, Sausu at one time and a female and teenage piglet (?) at another, then saw what looked like two in otters and saw one next door to the okapi behind the giraffe house.

    - Proposed giant anteater enclosure (?) behind capybaras being cleared of vegetation.

    - No entry to the macaques/mandrills/capuchins in the Monkey House.

    - Saw the three male cheetahs in the main enclosure and the two females (Kinky Tail was definitely in there) opposite the bush dogs; is this permanent?

    - Saw the cottontop tamarins, they have a huge island to go to but weren't using it.

    - JCB in Condor Cliffs.

    - Milli is definitely in Spirit of the Jaguar, Toni is in the former tiger enclosure still.

    - Saw Napo outside and Goshi indoors. Both had enrichment (Napo climbed a tree for meat on a pulley, Goshi dug under a massive tree stump for her share).

    - Saw all six Bornean orangs!! Only saw six Sumatrans; again no sign of Puluh.

    - New mudskipper and coral tanks in the Aquarium.

    - Are there any dwarf mongooses left?! Enclosure seemed to be empty...

    - The Ecuadorian Amazons were nowhere in sight.

    - The white-winged wood ducklings are in the waterfowl rearing aviary.

    - Work continuing in the enclosures behind the anteaters by the female cheetah enclosure and the bush dogs. There was a pudu in the anteater enclosure.

    - No Gambian pouched rats (enclosure covered up and signs gone) or okapi in the okapi house...?!

    - Cone-headed lizards gone, golden-eyed tree frogs have replaced Morelet's tree frogs.

    - Chimp-wise, only saw Wilson, Nicky, Eric, Carlos, Rosie and Zee Zee today! No one else in sight, sadly missed Boris once again :( I will not rest until I have seen him!
