How many giant otters do they have now ?

[MOD'S EDIT: This post and the ensuing discussion were taken from the original Chester News thread when that became Chester Reports. That thread can now be found here.

This thread is for any Chester chat that isn't really news. As the title suggests this is a good place for discussion, speculation and questions.

More information about this change can be found here.]

It's either 2 or 3 the exact number I'm not sure on.

This one is a refurb of the existing Ark one, though - so the number of play areas has not increased. ;)

I count 5 play areas at the zoo. The new Madagascar themed one on the old fountain gardens, the new one being built, the one near Oakfield House, the one in between the orangs and chimps and the one near the end of Islands.

I thought I'd heard one of the females died a while back, but wasn't certain.

Didn’t realise they were related, as they brought in Diego to breed with them, so would find it doubtful they would breed with a mother and daughter to same male ?

Why not? They are mother and her daughter from the previous male.

I assume they'd have been delighted to have seen young from either pairing. Or both!

And as they live in 'packs' in the wild, multiple matings must be the norm rather than pairs.

Wildlife Wood is not a refurb but a rebuild. You could also include the model boats and Conservation Golf. The play area next to Oakfield House was demolished a couple of weeks ago.

May I remind you of the future of the lion enclosure?
