    A few notes from Sunday:

Okapi house was closed 'for maintenance' and the okapis and duikers shut in.

Tsavo aviary was closed due to weather - aviary net wasn't visibly damaged or repaired so suspect this means birds shut in due to cold.

Noticed with the okapi house closed and the spiny mice in the bats no longer on show the zoo has once again dropped to very few rodents on show - only capybara and porcupine on show on Sunday (though presumably at least the pouched rat will be back once the okapis are back open).

Felt like the Tropical Realm herp displays are finally coming together - they've all been refreshed quite recently now and the species line up is pretty good - though the left-hand half of the free-standing viv was empty.

Also, unable to resist picking up this magnet from the 'Our Zoo' tie-in merchandise - alongside the DVD and book you can get this design as a mug, magnet or postcard.

Karoocheetah and Maguari, did you go to Tsavo aviary in the morning? Myself, Nisha and Zoogiraffe did so on Saturday and it was closed, but it was open in the afternoon. Our theory was that the path was slippy.

It was the morning, yes, so that's a fair theory.

Looks like my suspicions earlier in the thread were correct. Chester have tweeted a link to a CCTV video of kirana with 3 cubs dated 5th January 2015!

Edit - the news section on Chesters website has the birth dated as 2nd January 2015.

Also, someone on Facebook asked about Cheetah cubs, to which the reply was "they're doing fine" .... are there baby cheetahs too?

No - they moved over into the Café side of the Spirit of the Jaguar Enclosure at least a month ago.

The Cheetah cubs as far as I know are still in the back 'off show' enclosure that runs parallel with the public footpath behind the current on show enclosure - Bakari the male is separate from his mum & sister for obvious reasons now.

No problem - the cheetah cubs I'm referring to are the 16 month or so old ones born around the same time as Nuri & Kasih the last tiger cubs - the zoo have not confirmed if there are brand new cubs which was what the FB person was asking - if there are new Cheetah cubs (and this is purely wishful thinking on my behalf) I hope they are Adazes :D

Is correct to say that Chester currently have 7 Sumartran Tigers?
