Does anyone have a document that keeps track of all chimps in U.S. zoos? If there isn't one made yet, I can make one on Docs and share it here. If you know of any U.S. zoos with chimps, please list it below.

On the west coast the AZA zoos with chimps are Oregon Zoo, Sacramento Zoo, San Francisco Zoo, Oakland Zoo, and Los Angeles Zoo. San Diego Zoo has bonobos.

    Dallas Zoo also has chimpanzees.
Does anyone know what subspecies AZA zoos have? It is just the Central sub?

Thanks for the responses! Does anyone know about any Non-AZA facilities that have chimpanzees? I'm sure there have to be a few that have them, I think DeYoung Zoo has one?

Milwaukee does not have chimps, and neither does Columbus. They have Bonobos.

Was thinking of Bonobos when I wrote them. Sorry. Will correct.

I'm not sure DeYoung still has any. None on exhibit on my last visit.

What can you guys tell me about Sacramento's chimpanzees? I've found articles about Joey. He's an older male, I don't see any articles announcing his death, so I am assuming he is still alive. I also found another article from 2018 that says the zoo has five chimpanzees in total, so I am missing all information on the other four there.

Doesn't Kansas City Zoo have a large group?

I've personally viewed Chimpanzees at all 37 of the American zoos on the list below. I went through the ZooChat gallery to search up the zoos, with at least a couple of these places possibly no longer having the species.

    In alphabetical order:

    ABQ BioPark (Rio Grande Zoo)
    Busch Gardens Tampa Bay
    Chattanooga Zoo
    Dallas Zoo
    Detroit Zoo
    DeYoung Family Zoo
    Fort Worth Zoo
    Gladys Porter Zoo
    GW Exotic Animal Park
    Houston Zoo
    Jackson Zoo
    John Ball Zoo
    Kansas City Zoo
    Lincoln Park Zoo
    Little Rock Zoo
    Los Angeles Zoo
    Maryland Zoo
    Montgomery Zoo
    North Carolina Zoo
    Oakland Zoo
    Oklahoma City Zoo
    Oregon Zoo
    Potawatomi Zoo
    Riverside Discovery Center
    Rolling Hills Wildlife Adventure
    Sacramento Zoo
    Saint Louis Zoo
    San Francisco Zoo
    Sedgwick County Zoo
    Sunset Zoo
    Toledo Zoo
    Tulsa Zoo
    West Coast Game Park Safari
    Wild Wilderness Drive Through Safari
    Zoo Knoxville
    Zoo Miami
    ZooTampa at Lowry Park

Plus there is Southwick's Zoo and several others that I have not been to or forgotten about. (I have visited 520 different zoos and so it's getting difficult to recall every single detail:))

I’ll also be adding places like Chimp Haven, as well as other rescue organizations to the list. I’m also still looking for information on Sacramento's chimpanzees! It’s crazy to think they only ever talk about one of their five.

Thanks so much for all the help!

The list is coming along very well, but I'm wondering about Southwick's chimpanzees. I can't find any information about them at all.

Does anyone have any information on the Chimps held at Lincoln Park Zoo? I just requested access to the online document if that information is on there.
    Thanks!
