I am indeed a NZer who cannot shear sheep! I also don't like rugby!! Funny thing, I have been asked several times by tourists in NZ if I'm a Maori. I guess they must be thinking of one of those albino cave-dwelling Maoris!
Somewhere buried back in this thread CGSwans posted this: I'm not sure that I have seen more Asian zoos than any other Zoochatter (Peter Dickinson probably holds that crown), but nevertheless I made a list of all the Asian zoos I have visited ranked in order of best to worst, with the years of visitation and links to the relevant review thread if I have written one for that zoo. I separated zoos from bird collections and from aquariums because you shouldn't really rank the three against one another. Then there are a few random “other” collections at the end which didn't properly fit with the other three so they aren't really ranked but also sort of are. It was actually really difficult trying to rank the zoos, so it is all just really subjective, but the list includes every collection I have visited in Asia. http://www.zoochat.com/19/asian-zoo-list-chlidonias-364545/#post770682
no real plans. I want to add some birds to my year list (and some mammals to annoy lintworm -- I'll try for platypus). A few zoos, but only a few because of money. I'll be in town for about a month at least. I shall indeed just see what enters my path.
Cue Chlidonias spending the next 6 months walking around Australia seeing loads and loads of wildlife
If you really want to annoy lintworm, make sure you get Zaglossus on your list and that would put you in an even more select club than the pangolin club.
oh! I forgot about my "Zaglossus Expedition to the Northern Territory" (ZENT)! I'll have to make a note of that for the future.
There seems to be some confusion over the respective meanings of 'my trip is over' and 'I have left Asia'. The latter describes your situation; the former does not. Maybe just add an '(Austral-)' to the thread title.
well, technically I haven't left Asia yet. I am in my room at the Travellers Planet hostel in Melaka. It is 9.42pm and I should actually be packing but this thread keeps distracting me. I have a bus at 6.30am to the KLIA2 airport and then a 1.40pm flight which gets into Melbourne at 11.30pm that evening. So, I guess neither "my trip is over" nor "I have left Asia" are correct
A mere trifle of tenses to distract from the non-endingness of the trip. You left out the parentheses.
anything to keep people on their toes.... I might make a new thread, "Chlidonias Is Not In Asia: 2014"
Seeing a platypus is quite some jealoussy-points, but seeing a Zaglossus in the wild is the highscore then I would eat my laptop .
