Lucy the Binturong has been euthanised.

The Cincinnati Zoo’s longtime bearcat ambassador Lucy died Wednesday.
The animal care staff made the “hard but humane” decision to euthanize Lucy after a year-long battle with cancer, according to Michelle Curley, communications director at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens.
Lucy served as the bearcat ambassador to the University of Cincinnati from 2008-2019, Curley says, endearing herself to students and fans across more than 200 games.
Lucille stepped in as Lucy's replacement in October 2019.
“After retiring from campus life,” Curley wrote in a message to zoo members, “Lucy enjoyed spending time in her tree limb filled habitat eating her favorite foods and spending time with her caregivers.”

The frogs have been at the zoo since last April :p.

The finches sure are an interesting addition though!
That's incredibly unfortunate :(. I think Lucy was the Palawan Binturong at the zoo? She also bred, as well (does this mean Cincy bred Palawan Binturong)?

Yes, she was a Palawan Binturong. Cincinnati did breed binturongs a while ago, I think back in 2011 was the last time?

Lucy was not a palawan binturong, she was purchased from a private breeder in Texas. The zoo had one single offspring born "Hank Jr" just after night hunters opened.
Nashville has remained the only place to breed Palawan Binturongs after importing 2.2 from Europe several years ago.

Thank you for the information! What zoos besides Nashville have Palawan Binturongs then? I know Virginia has a single individual, and Cincinnati does have one as well?

The zoo have welcomed a new wallaby joey:

Surprise! Cincinnati Zoo's wallaby, Ava, has joey growing in her pouch

The zoo's wallaby, Ava, who gave birth to her joey, Pocket, last year, has another joey growing in her pouch.

According to the Cincinnati Zoo, Ava was pregnant with Pocket when she arrived in Cincinnati in early 2020, but throughout all this, she was carrying a fertilized embryo.

Counting Pocket, the Cincinnati Zoo has five wallabies. This will be the zoo's sixth.

Three young male Manatees have arrived:

Cincinnati Zoo takes in, rehabilitates three orphaned manatees

Three young manatees now have a new home at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden.
The manatees will be rehabilitated at the Zoo and then returned to their native Florida waters.

Two of the manatees already had names, Alby and Manhattan. MRP gave Zoo officials the opportunity to name the third. The manatee team settled on "SwimShady," a play on rapper Eminem's nickname/alter ego "Slim Shady."
Alby is a an orphan from the Halifax River in Volusia County, Florida. He was rescued in 2019 and weighed 51 lbs. Alby weighed in at 215 lbs. in October.

Manhattan was rescued as an orphan from St. Augustine Beach in St. Johns County, Florida in 2019. He was 62 lbs. when rescued but weighed 227 lbs. in October.

SwimShady was rescued as an orphan from Berkley Canal in Brevard County, Florida, in December. At the time of his rescue, he weighed 198 lbs.
"We started renovating our manatee facility after our last two residents, Pippen and Truffleshuffle, returned to Florida in September of 2020 and stepped up the construction schedule so we could provide a home for these three orphans. We were originally slated to receive two animals. The third animal was added as result of the significant influx of rescued manatees at SeaWorld Orlando,” said Cincinnati Zoo curator Winton Ray in a press release. “We look forward to helping these youngsters grow and eventually return to their native home.”

That's interesting, never seen this species before...how common is it in zoos?
