It is for orangutan exhibit renovations, it does not have anything to do with bear line renovations currently
Reports have changed, and apparently the Reptile House will, instead, be closed for renovations starting February 11th.
A new video about the process of moving the zoo's four Chinese alligators and two alligator snapping turtles from the central exhibit in the Reptile House to a behind-the-scenes area to allow for the cleaning and renovation project in the historic building.
You know, you can always contact the Zoo. Utilize heuristics whenever possible. Also, improper usage of apostrophes, as the reader is implying that the Zoo has one alligator and one turtle, when in fact they have several. How I'd write it is so: "What are the alligators' and turtles' names?" This is no longer a possessive apostrophe for one individual, but multiple. I don't like to go all Grammar Soviet on you, but... ehh-?
A new blog update about the renovations to the Linne's two-toed sloth exhibit in Discovery Forest, which is expected to be completed in April. Per the article, the new exhibit will include "new artificial trees and a platform connected by a highway of rope bridges, giving Moe the opportunity to climb overhead from tree-to-tree... cooling, heating, and resting stations... and... one artificial tree will be designed so that Moe can climb all the way down into a cozy, private area on the ground surrounded by three stone walls and one glass wall ." It is also hoped that this renovation and expansion will allow for the acquisition of a female sloth to resume breeding attempts: http://blog.cincinnatizoo.org/2019/...mation-building-bridges-here-and-in-the-wild/
This... is interesting, conservation-wise. Ohio zoo collects polar bear poop to aid species' survival
According to the zoo's new spring map, the new ticket booths and walk-in entrance from Erkenbrecher Avenue will be open by mid-April. This new entrance access is where the path that led behind the elephant yard to Discovery Forest used to be.
I went to Cincy on Saturday and I'll say the zoo looks A LOT smaller due to the construction up in the entry village. The cats everywhere in the zoo were very active which was nice, and the Mueller's Gibbon exhibit is empty, does anyone have information about this?
It's cold, unless of course someone knows something else about it. I see the Gibbons on Gibbon Islands outside during colder weather but I've never seen the Grey Gibbons out in Jungle Trails during the same time. My guess is because the moat is very small, and can be easily crossed if it freezes. Was it filled with water at that time? I know it was warmer at some point in the day but I've never seen any of the Jungle Trails animals out prior to spring.
No, it was uninhabited, there was no sign, it just looked very different. Wouldn't it just have the sign there and a sign saying that its animals were off exhibit?
Usually yes, it has the "Burr, Too Cold to Be Outside" sign but I have seen the gibbon sign missing during this season before. Same with the other outdoor inhabitants' signs that aren't either the orangutans or bonobos.
