    Sea Lion Exhibit

This spring 2016 the seal and sea lion exhibit will under go renovations to remove the stone walls and netting and replace with glass for better viewing. This is much needed, since the awful netting has been in place. The work should be done this summer. Also admission prices will go up by a dollar next year.

I probably will always call it Northern Trek, but if they're still planning on moving the snow leopards, red pandas, along the current non-N.Amer bears, etc. to this area the name does fit a bit better. ;)

Edgar, the male Amur Leopard from Erie has been transferred to the zoo. According from the Facebook announcement Edgar will be on display later this winter. I asked the question of where exactly where he will be displayed considering to my knowledge they don't have any plans to build a new leopard exhibit. I would think hed be put on rotation with Dara the Persian Leopard in his solitary, one cat at a time exhibit or Dara will be leaving to make room for Edgar, who is excluded from the SSP after killing his mate last year at Erie.

Visited the zoo Sunday and was sad to see the Greenhouse has been demolished....Always my favorite spot at the zoo, especially during a winter visit... I seem to be old enough to be bothered by the transformation to more of an amusement location v. zoo however I do realize enclosure requirements are changing for the better and in turn, will result in a lesser density of animals on display...

Im assuming it was Lalo, their only male. He would have been around 21 years old. I wonder if they'll still keep the species/ still plan on building a new enclosure with the Northern Trek remodel.

There is a new bald eagle in the wolf lodge. He is 4-5 years old from the fish & wildlife service, on loan. Edgar the Amur leopard is on exhibit next to monkey island. There is a matschie's tree kangaroo in gum leaf hideout.

Do the koalas belong to Cleveland or are they part of the San Diego group?

CMZ areas closed due to being under construction or renovation: main gate gift shop, tiger exhibit, seal and sea lion exhibit, 4D theatre at former greenhouse site, aquatic exhibits in the circular area around the sharks.

Aquatic exhibit area has been renovated with digital signage, new carpet on the walls, and some exhibit upgrades.

The sign for the gift show renovation has what I believe may the the zoo's new logo. I am not sure if it is for primary use or secondary use. A survey last year indicated this might happen.
