I’m really hoping that there’s a phase 2 so that the sloth bears can get a new exhibit. Last time I was there it was flipping off of the walls, and since it’s home is the same area as the Asian Highlands animals, it’s only fair they get an exhibit too.

You will have to wait a while. Moving species from the hill are the current priorities. Cheetahs next. Then the primates.

The first tour beginning with the zoo's best (IMO) - a two part feature.

I went to the zoo today and here are a few things I have noticed
    - wolf wilderness beaver/bald eagle area is closed down due to re doing the glass panels told it’ll be about another few weeks til it opens
    - Asian highlands looks absolutely amazing I cannot wait til it’s opening
    - the zoo is still working on the new exhibit next to the ocelot in the rainforest who it is I don’t know I still have yet to find out.
    - the new welcome pavilion is also coming along nicely and is close to being done.

Snow leopard, Amur leopard, red panda, and takin. All but the takin are already exhibited at the zoo.

I’m sure they would, like, love to, but it’s not the most practical of suggestions is it?

if you think pandas are hard to get, these are nearly impossible. LA tried twice and didn’t succeed either time.

We had them briefly at the Cincinnati Zoo in the early 90s on loan from China. Very cool indeed.

Wilderness Trek is not going all Asian if that is what you meant. There are presently no more plans to make any more changes to Wilderness Trek. Moving animals off the hill has become a theme. A new cheetah exhibit, a large primate area, and possibly a modular aquarium are in the current timeline. No other plans have been discussed with the Metroparks board.
