Colchester Zoo Colchester's lions

    Hello, in the old lion exhibit "Serengeti Plains" there use to be two female lions and now theres one lioness, Leoni. Can anybody tell me what happened to these lions?:confused:

    I know that only one of the female pair, Ashanti, moved to the present enclosure, Lion Rock. She unfortunately died of cancer the year after moving into the new enclosure. She was replaced by Leoni who came from Blair Drummond I think. Not sure what happened to the other female, whether she died or moved to another collection? :confused:

    Thanks for the info and yes Leoni did come from Blair Drummond.

    The other female was called "Massing" I don't know much about her but she died on the 9th June and never made it to "Lion Rock" i wish i could find out more info about her ...

    Thanks, does anybody know how old they were when they died?
