A Common chimpanzee have been born last night to the female Cindy. Also an Emperor tamarin have been born this year.

In near future a white rhino baby will be born. The zoo posted this video on youtube for some days ago, where you can see the baby in the mom's belly.

Are there any current plans for new developments at Copenhagen? I don't think there's been any major developments since the Arctic Ring exhibit, but there are several outdated exhibits, not least the chimpanzees.

The chimp enclosure is the only remaining exhibit I consider urgent and a plan for its future developements is in place. The nearest plan is an Australian section, which primarily was initiated to get more room for Tas.devils (3 pairs+offspring, instead of the current 2+offspring, which already is filled). It also involves a few kangaroos and alike, but this is primarily species already in the zoo. It was supposed to open this winter, but was postponed because of unexpected repairs to the Arctic Ring. The repairs should be finished within the next 2 weeks. After these I've only seen a full list of future plans (quite a lot, clearly involves several years of work) and don't know the order each step will be initiated in.

Small corrections: The rhino is a male (1.0), not female (0.1). The armadillo was born some time ago, but only left the burrow for the first time a few days ago.

The zoo have started to build the new Tasmanian/Australia area with Tasmanian devil and Wombat, including a kangaroo walk-through with Grey kangaroo( Mainland Western)? and Red-necked wallaby.

Is this in the same area as the current kangaroo and Tasmanian Devil exhibits?

No, this area is located on the right side of the Tropic/Chimpanzee building. There the Prairie dogs was living before and I think some part of the Giant anteater exhibit?. The Prairie dogs is living in a new enclosure in ''Ormegårdene'' since last year. :)

Thanks, that is very good news. Hopefully by removing the Australian animals they can develop the whole "other side" of the zoo for African species, including perhaps an outdoor exhibit for chimps...

Yup, and sometimes two or three steps ahead of that too!

I mean, once the chimps have moved out, their enclosure can be... :D

Apparently, they're also getting maned wolves. The text is not entirely clear on what's going to happen with the remaining part of the pampas exhibit. I understand it as if the maned wolves and giant anteaters are going to cohabit. The guanacos, rheas, capybaras and Patagonian cavies are probably going to leave this area of the zoo, then, though I don't know if they'll leave the collection for good or possibly be moved to the Søndermarken area where the Tasmanian devils and wallabies have their current exhibits.

Thanks for your answer, Hvedekorn!! :)

Do you know if the zoo has plan to expand the area at Søndermarken? (if the pampas area will be moved into it?). I thought first that the area where devils/wallabies is living today, should possible to be home for Chimp, Lion or Pandas when they will arrive in 2017.

Do you have any idea of how this zoo operates, or do you only read sensationalist newspapers?
