Just got back from a holiday in Spain, based in Madrid and Seville..... Of course I visited Faunia Madrid andMadrid Zoo/ Aquarium - both of which I thoroughly enjoyed. I avoided the Mundo Park Zoo near Seville because I was warned off by Keeper that it was very bad but on a day trip to Cordoba to see the Mosque, I was surprised to find that there is a zoo there..... I didnt know about it before (no mention on this site). I didnt visit as my time in Cordoba was very short (only 3 hours) and I wanted to see the historical sites. A web search suggests it was once another example of a Spanish slum zoo but has been re-developed over the last 10 years or so. I imagined something along the lines of Pistoia Zoo in Italy, but have struggled to find anything concrete beyond a few (possibly outdated) pictures. Has anyone visited this zoo recently? I may be visiting Seville again soon and thought I migth try and get over to Cordoba to see it......
I never visited, but I know (seen pics and reading comments) that how too many zoos in Spain sadly Cordoba zoo has a very outdated exhibits.
2 Drill have arrived from Bioparc Valencia, with a 3rd due to join them from Bristol. https://www.facebook.com/zoocordoba/
I’ll be close to this zoo in the coming week because my family and I will be on vacation in Seville. Can anyone say that it is worth going to? It looks a bit like a typical Spanish slum zoo.
Hello - thanks for bringing this thread back to life! I had forgotten about it... I did eventually visit Cordoba Zoo, and actually quite like it! Definitely worth a visit. I put some pics in the gallery. Only place I have seen European Mink, and a few of their birds of prey species.
A zoo completely refurbished with very active zoo and municipal management. Good focus on native species conservation and awareness. Next year new exhibit for Iberian lynx pair.

The exhibit is apparently almost finished and the pair to be introduced has already been identified. Recent additions: 0.1 giraffe Kenia ex Bioparque Valencia 1.0 white crowned mangabey ex Dublin Zoo (to form a new breeding group with 2 other individuals already present)
On April 19th, a male Eurasian-eagle Owl was born and has been named Bubo. On May, 3 Patagonian Maras, 5 Mute Swans, Common Moorhens, Ruddy Shelducks and an Iberian Ibex have been born.
Currently, six zoos keep Iberian lynx. The Lisbon zoo, ZooAquarium de Madrid, Zoo Cordoba, TerraNatura Murcia, ZooBotanico Jerez, and Selwo Aventura.
Mervent should have received them this year if the Covid crisis has not come so we know they are on the way. For Nesles we don't know if they asked for it but maybe the fact that they have other lynx species is a problem ? Paris Zoo, I hope not as the lynx enclosure is really bad.
They can always build a new exhibit. Cordoba has both northern and Iberian lynxes, as well as Madrid.
So this is not a problem and we have to solutions now : - they are not interested in, - they are waiting for.
