    CuriOdyssey is a 3-acre facility in San Mateo, California. Animals at CuriOdyssey include bobcat, grey fox, North American river otter, North American porcupine, northern raccoon, burrowing owl, band-tailed pigeon, golden eagle, green-winged teal, California Mountain kingsnake, desert tortoise, California tiger salamander, and giant African millipede.

    On January 27th, 2021, the museum announced that they have acquired (0.0.2) Dutch rabbits named Lilac and Clover.

    On July 14th, the museum announced that they have terminated the employment of their Director of Education after he was caught in a minor sting operation.

    On July 26th, the museum announced that their (1.0) bobcat named Frankie was moved to off-exhibit as, on June 30th, he had suffered a severe injury on one of his toes in the back right paw and had to get it partially amputated.

    On September 17th, the museum announced that they have acquired (0.0.2) domestic ferrets named Kodo and Podo. The museum also acquired 3 additional animals, but they have not made it clear what species.

    On November 9th, the museum announced they have acquired a (0.1) common chuckwalla named Charlene from the San Francisco State University Herpetology department and now lives next to the California kingsnake.

    On November 12th, the museum announced they have moved their (0.1) great grey owl named Fiona to her new larger exhibit.

    On November 14th, the museum announced that their new physics-in-action playground, named "Whoooosh!" had its grand opening on November 13th.

    On February 23rd, 2022, the museum announced they have acquired a (1.0) California kingsnake named Marty.

    On May 3rd, the museum announced that on April 30th, they broke ground on the first part of a planned series of buildings. Titled "The Bay Gallery and Labs", the building will open in Q1 2023.

    On May 10th, the museum announced that they have closed their walk-through aviary from May 9th to May 16th for repairs.

    On May 19th, the museum announced that on May 5th, their bobcats, grey fox, domestic ferrets, and North American river otter all received the first of two COVID-19 booster vaccines.

    On July 17th, the museum announced that due to avian influenza, the raptor and walkthrough aviaries are closed to the public.

    I'm not sure exactly when they re-opened, but they are open again. The walkthrough aviaries are still closed due to bird flu.

    On January 3rd, the zoo announced that a (0.1) northern raccoon named Tilly passed away due to a rapid decline in health.

    On February 15th, the zoo announced that they acquired a (0.1) American crow named Russel which is now on exhibit.

    On March 15th, the zoo announced that, due to severe storms on March 14th, they closed and would not reopen again until June 3rd. Damage includes fallen trees (which among other things damaged a viewing window in the North American river otter exhibit, a raptor aviary, and the keeper's quarters, knocked down power lines (which meant power for the facility did not come back until late May), and flooding of the main exhibit concourse.

    On June 2nd, with the facility opening back up to the public the following day, the zoo announced that the raptor/walk-through aviaries reopened to the public.

    On June 24th, the zoo announced they opened a new building, the Bay Gallery & Labs, to the public as well as a new exhibit, ViewPoint.

    On July 3rd, it was reported that the zoo is now working on Phase II of its campus expansion, which includes a new larger exhibit for its North American river otter. Phase II will be completed sometime in late 2024.

    On July 11th, the zoo announced that they expanded their "Museums For All" program, removing both the $1 ticket fee and $35 membership fee for eligible families, as well as expanding the qualifying criteria to get in the program.

    To be clear, the raptor aviaries were open when I was there, it was just the main walk through aviary that was closed, sadly. :)

    Wow, I did not realize how close to the storms I was there. I went on March 10th, there was already a lot of storm damage around from storms over the previous few days/week. The storms were pretty bad on the 14th, but I was up in SF proper by then and the weather was not as bad, even being so close to this place.

    On January 18th, 2024, it was announced that the zoo transferred a (1.0) kinkajou to the San Francisco Zoo in California on December 20th, 2023.

    On March 19th, the zoo announced that their (1.0) golden eagle named Oro passed away on March 15th due to an unspecified intermittent illness.
