After Kipenzi the giraffe was born, the Dallas Zoo said there would be frequent pictures and updates. There haven't really been that many updates. I wondered if someone who is there regularly has anything to report?
The Zoo received Blue Crane, Siamese fireback and other birds like assorted geese, ducks, plovers, doves, etc. The only names I recognized were the ones I mentioned. Not totally certain but I think they will become part of their bird show.

This is very sad news. I would urge anyone who uses Facebook to send a message of sympathy to the zookeepers. Trolls have been at work. Accidents happen. Kipenzi and her mother Katie were in the very safest part of the exhibit. At least she didn't suffer.
For the first time in the zoo's 127-year history there was a million visitors this past fiscal year. Somewhat incredibly, Dallas Zoo has almost doubled its attendance during the past decade and that is great to see as the local population continues to increase and the zoo is clearly one of the best in the nation. Interestingly enough, nearby Fort Worth Zoo had at least one million visitors for the 24th consecutive year and Dallas and Fort Worth are only 30 minutes apart. Based on the past decade it is only a matter of time before Dallas passes Fort Worth as the latter zoo's attendance has been fairly stable for years.
