The four month old baby is a male named Kuruka, meaning to fly or to jump.

I was anxious to find out when the public would be allowed to see him too, though I suppose they had to take it slow, given the radical life changes his Mother has so recently undergone. Now hopefully someone from here will go see him already (no pressure), I wish I could go myself.

1.1 addax were born recently. 1.0 Zabi was born to Petunia and 0.1 Zahra was born to Tonks. They are not yet on exhibit.

I was a bit early on that. Adhama will be coming from LA, but the move has not yet occurred.

In other news, 5 Sri Lankan pit vipers have hatched.

Quite sure this is a viviparous species, so the young should have been born, not hatched ;).

Even so, a nice result !

Yes, my mistake! There was a lapse between when I saw the news and when I posted, and by the time I posted I didn't remember to use the correct term.

Agreed! Dallas Zoo's reptile programs are really taking off.

I'm not sure taking off is the best description. They've had one of the largest and most successful herpetological collections in the US for some decades.

jbnbsn99 or another Texas regular for that matter: I am trying to garner some more information on the (sub- for some) species of Galapagos tortoise the Dallas Zoo maintains????

The current group here numbers 3.4 individuals. Any more detailed info on individual personae, details whence they came from or the species make up is much appreciated!!!

I really couldn't tell you on those. I do seem to recall that the Galaps were younger animals, perhaps in their 20s.
