14 year old cheetah, Kilima, has passed away. She had been at the zoo since 2009. She had recently been moved behind the scenes, due to her declining health. Black crowned cranes and marabou are now living in her exhibit next to the penguins, temporarily.

This March, Ajabu, the Zoo's 5-year-old African Elephant bull tested positive for EEHV. Thankfully, with the help of staff, he has made a full recovery. This is a great step forward in the fight against EEHV, especially after the death of Lucas in Toledo. Ajabu | Dallas Zoo
that’s amazing! Ajabu has very valuable genetics to the African Elephant population in North America as his father is unknown cause his mom is from Swaziland. I’m so glad they were able to save him!

This is a fantastic article! It touches not just on their arrival but on adjusting them to being on public view (they were born at White Oak and spent most of their time at Wilds), conservation done by the zoo, and conservation that is helping cheetahs in the wild.
