There was just some footage on funniest home videos of a lion that looked like it was at darling downs zoo, beautiful looking male, backed up to the fence and sprayed a kid.

Yep, that was Simba - star of George of the Jungle 2 and now Funniest Home Videos. He'll want a pay rise now!

    Boas

Following on from our new found support from the State Minister for Primary Industries, our Boa constrictors finally arrived this week [after 4 years of public service obstruction] and other species will be following them soon.

    Now there are three

On a very sad note - Kera, our elderly Jaguar, had to be euthanased this week.

There are now only three of these beautiful animals left in this country.

Just a warning that I will be closing this thread soon - please start a thread for each new topic rather than putting everything in the one thread.

We've never been able to ascertain her exact age. She was born at Adelaide
Zoo but their records only went back for 25 years and, 3 years ago, her birth predated their records.

A newspaper clipping from the early/mid 1980s described her as being 4 years old then.

Interestingly, although she was euthanased for age related problems, her teeth were in wonderful condition for a carnivore of her advanced years.

    She is sorely missed here.

Yes, Steve, you and your zoo family obviously looked after her very well.

A good life and a quick death - some humans don't even get that.

You will miss her, but you won't forget her. She enriched your life and you enriched hers. That's the nice thing about having animals.
