The yellow-throated martens are on display now. They are kept in the former clouded leopard/coati/binturong cage. The exhibit and especially the inside eclosure has been slightly renovated.

The two smaller enclosures next to it received an update too. They were also merged to almost double the land area of the otters. The Egyptian mongooses went off-show again.

I'm thinking about revisiting Zie-Zoo (in a combined trip with Best and/or Beesd). Does anyone know if the following species are on show yet or that they are (still) kept behind the scenes? Last time I was in Zie-Zoo, I expected several rarities based on ZTL, but some of these were still kept behind the scenes.

    Dusky Pademelon
    Egyptian Mongoose
    Slender Mongoose
    Marsh Mongoose
    Asian Palm Civet
    Bush Dog
    Yucatan Squirrel
    Alpine Marmot
    Bobak Marmot
    Gambian Pouched Rat
    Northern Cloud Rat
    Naked Mole-Rat
    Plains Viscacha
    African Pygmy Hedgehog

One correction: the hedgehog can be seen in the animal presentation. Every time other animals are chosen so you're not guaranteed.

It is a pack of 12!

The bird collection is getting better. A new aviary holds the bateleurs as well as two southern ground hornbills. The guira cuckoos that have been behind the scenes for some time went onshow next to the South American building.

The former sika deer paddock now holds a few Cameroon sheep and domestic geese. The arctic fox, Eurasian eagle owls and ferruginous hawks have left the collection. The arctic fox enclosure houses a serval temporarily, as the breeding pair is busy with their new litter.

Excellent, I love a good size group of Dholes and I never tire of Guira Cuckoo. I look forward to seeing them, and various other species, when I visit soon (but what I really, really want is to see is those mongooses they've got:D)

If by Dortmund, you mean Dortmund Zoo, then zootierliste doesn't mention any being kept there since 2003.

    Two white-naped cranes hatched.
    White-tailed porcupine born.
    Azara's agouti born.
White-lipped peccaries arrived, ( I think they replaced the collared peccaries). They already have piglets.

In addition Zie-Zoo joined the Washu project (they sell their chocolate), which is the zoo's first conservation effort aside from the breeding programmes.
