In my experience, I have met quite a few well-known figures in the zoo world. Being a former Philadelphia Zoo volunteer, I knew Kimberly Lengel. She worked on conservation with Rodrigues flying foxes and I believe is responsible for their continued existence in the wild. I also know Carlos C. Martinez Rivera, an amphibian expert who works on protecting threatened amphibian species like stubfoot toads. At the university I attend, my advisor and instructor for a few of my courses was a zookeeper at several institutions in the U.S.A. She has been a zookeeper at San Antonio, Philadelphia, and Sacramento.
Yes , quite a few across Latin America and Europe in a few institutions. Hope to meet more and network in the future too.
