I've been looking for pictures of the elephant house (Herbivora Building) before it was renovated around 2000 (Vanishing Giants). As a child I remember seeing hippos and walking through the building; does anyone have any photos of either the interior or exterior of the building from before 2000? I haven't been able to find any. Also, does anyone know when they stopped having kangaroos? Did they remove them for the renovation?
There are pictures of the Elephant House exterior out there but unfortunately there are only two photos I have found that shows the interior in some way. As for the Kangaroos, with the Herbivora Building still standing for almost 109 years and without a major renovation until the 1970's and 2000, it would be difficult to find out when they left. The last photos of them date back to around 1952 unless you have seen them for yourself. http://www.zoochat.com/556/elephant-house-259133/ http://www.cincinnativiews.net/images/Zebra-1.jpg
I think the kangaroos left before the 80's I remember going on school trips there and they had hippos rhino tapirs okapi giraffe and elephants
