A new study estimates that there are almost 9000 dogs running loose in Dallas. Some are strays. Some are unattended pets. Having 9,000 dogs running loose is sheer insanity...and potentially very dangerous. Look no further than the nation of Rwanda, as after the 1994 genocide almost every single dog was shot and killed. I know a couple of families that recently moved to Rwanda (on two-year teaching experience contracts) and they have said that dogs are still virtually extinct in the country.
Though tragic for the dogs, it is probably for the better I would say, given the amount of diseases they spread to animals and humans, the amount of traffic accidents they cause here in Africa and also the negative impact they have on wildlife by killing it...
