Held black rhino previously (which bred).

BTW: the female Shakina having given birth is 8.5 years old (born 2005). Female Jasira is est. 5 years old (so probably just coming into adulthood). The male is an F1 generation born in Erfurt.

AFAIK, both females are the same age, both born 2005.

One again an example of how unpredictable/dangerous adult male Orangutans can sometimes be in contact with youngsters, whether their own or not.

Dortmund is the latest victim in the growing problem of theft of small primates from European zoos :( This time three Pygmy Marmosets were taken between Sunday night and Monday morning. Security has been tightened since the break in...

So far this year at least 20 individual Callitrichids have been taken from EAZA zoos including 17 from Beauval in May (none of which have yet been recovered)

A Smooth-fronted caiman has hatched at Dortmund Zoo. The cluch was left in the enclosure and now the first hatchling has been observed :).

What kind of internal injuries vogelcommando, do you know?
So sad, why they not tried to treat him with potent antibiotics?

I don't know which internal injuries the animal had but I guess they have tried everything to save the animal but when the animal has to much pain I guess this is the most "human" decision :(.
