There has been a report here in Murray Bridge that smoke is coming from Dundees this afternoon (3pm Thursday Adelaide time).

One comment on facebook - "The flames were coming from the right side of Dundee's....
taking the tops of the trees from which we were certain the fire was coming from the enclosures...
Hoping no harm done to the staff & critters"

Also posted is a photo of the smoke.

Will try and find out what is happening.

I really enjoyed going to this place, hope that no animals were injured or killed in the blaze.

    Hi Steve,

I haven't had much luck finding out much more than has been reported. I drove past yesterday at about 4.30pm and their were only police left and the car park blocked off.

I was told later that the road in front was closed while the fire was going.

The fire was on the right side of the building, where the glass atrium is located.

I understand a bulk of the animals are to the left and out back.

    I'll keep asking questions.

This is as reported yesterday in the local paper.

Fire forces evacuation - Local News - News - General - Murray Valley Standard

    Other info...

Manager Maurie Wells said that the fire engulfed two aviaries. Staff tried to free the birds but the smoke got too thick.

He said that the fire went right through the middle of the aviaries but they only lost about 10% of the birds.

They saved the majority of liazards and all the snakes

They lost three baby water dragons, a 21 year old barking owl, some kookaburras and a couple of other species of owl.

The day after the fire, he reported the birds could be heard happily fluttering about in their blackened cage.

A generator was responsible for the fire, after the power was cut earlier in the day.

He will look at re-housing if required when they rebuild and was not sure when the park will re-open.

    Thanks Tim.

Sounds like it could have been a lot worse.
