This is such positive news! A second Czech zoo with aadvarks, super. Does she have a name?

Hopefuly she will settle quickly and get a male companion.

And there might be a new arrival at Prague soon too. Young Kvída is due in next weeks, the zoo publicised her ultrasound examination pictures.

This is heartbreaking for a zoologist like me.
The zoo site says that most of horns were from the rhinos from zoo stock.
This means the horns are only thing left from those rhinos, which were incinerated earlier!!!
If the rhinos became taxidermy mounts or skeletons, no horns should have been left aside, since the specimen is incomplete without them!
And think about other zoos that burned their horns - remnants from even more rhinos whose bodies were turned into waste!
I suppose there were, besides blunt and rubbed down, some really nice, long and beautiful horns that should have been in museums...

Give some rhinos to damn moth-ridden Russian museums at least, you posers!!!

I am really happy for the aardvark. :) Wonder which exhibit it will go into. I expect somewhere in the zoo .., but do not know yet where.

Also, they are refurbishing the erstwhile golden lion tamarin / callichtrid house for giant and perhaps other tortoises. Behind the house is a lawn with dead wood as exhibit barrier. Perhaps this will be an outside lawn for the giant tortoises from Praha.

I would expect a few other surprises like honey badgers. Maybe more primate species for the Safari (Guinea baboon, gelada, patas monkey)?

0.4 African Lions arrived from Arnhem earlier this month. In the next few weeks they will be joined by another 0.3 from the UK. These seven will then by integrated with the Barbary (mix) males that came from Olomouc last year to form a pride of 2.7

In the near future, the last two Amur Tigers will leave Dvur Kralove for Minnesota Zoo in the United States. Dvur will then go out of Tigers

The article translation is a bit sketchy but it appears that the Tiger exhibit will then be converted to house a new set of enclosures for Spotted Hyena (already in the collection) and two new species, Brown Hyena and Aardwolf.

The Painted Dogs should get a bigger enclosure this year. 1.1 Caracal also arrived as a potential breeding pair

The Aardvark they received earlier in the year has since been DNA sexed as a male after being sent as a female

No such information per se, as far as I can tell from running the article through translation software, but new blood coming in from the wild would certainly be helpful for the former taxon.

I went to Dvur Kralove Zoo today and have some possible news:

The former tiger enclosure was being renovated and looked almost complete.

There were some species that are not listed on Zootierliste for this collection so they might or might not be new:
There was a pair of Gabon Talapoins and I saw them mating
There was one great blue turaco in one of the mixed aviaries
There was a hatchling African Dwarf Crocodile (Not sure what has happened with this species and it's taxonomy but it was labelled as Osteolaemus tetraspis)

The Gabon talapoin have been there for some time now. Tiger enclosure is being renovated for African canids of diverse persuasions / plumage. In my experience the reptile department is very much up there and thus the label is correct on the species front.

At a meeting in Zurich EAZA Zoo Dvůr Králové received a two-year temporary membership. This is a precursor to full membership.

Gabon Talapoins are from Prague Zoo and Zoopark Zájezd. African Dwarf Crocodile are from Pilsen Zoo. Currently it is the arrival of drills. They should be instead of lions.

Drills instead of lions? Would the house not be too small for them?

Do you know if the planned enlargement of elephant yard will start this year? Or is it again postponed?

I don't know. Originally supposed to be extended to the place where they are actually giant tortoises.

@laughingDove: did you see African civets when you visited Dvur? they are listed as being present on ZTL.
