Another park which will open at the end of this year (for Christmas).

This new park is located in the south of France, near the spanish frontier, in the eastern french Pyrenees.

It will showcase on predators with a large variety of type.

The first phase is based on north-east asian coast and will welcome : raccon dogs, wolverins, Bengal leopard cats, wolves, brown bears, European lynx, Amur tigers, Ussuri brown bears, dholes, Amur leopards, yellow-throated martens, Siberian weasels, eurasian black vultures, Blakiston's Fish-owl, eurasian eagle-owls, Peregrine falcons, european kestrels, white-tailed sea eagles, steller sea eagles, eurasian great grey owls.

I don't kown if the owner can find all theses species but this is what he wants.

You can see a complete list of the species they want for completion (only the first phase will open this year) : Leszoosdanslemonde • Afficher le sujet - Ecoparc (66)

The buildling works started last year.

The first animal that will live at the park has been born:

An Eurasian Eagle-Owl which has been named Zonia.

Also, at La Ferme aux Pelerins a Peregrine Falcon has been born. He will live at EcoZonia when it opens. He has been named Zazou.

Another animal that will live at the Park is Horitzo, a 3 years old Catalan Donkey from a donkey farm named Asinerie des Corbieres.

All the information taken from EcoZonia's FB page.

Interesting! Some nice species there, looking at the Siberian weasels and leopard cats in particular but also the dholes and the martens!

This sounds like a expansive project considering that this park will exclusively have carnivores. They probably should invest in having at least a guinea pig or rabbit farm.

A really nice collection. And they begin strong!

Do they have any sponsor in zoo world? Because begin with species like Ussuri Bear... not all new zoos begin with species like this

I'm wishing to see it open

Just looked through the full species list from the link in the first post. If they manage to get all those species, this will definitely end up high on my personal visit list - Asiatic golden and jungle cats, white-tailed mongoose, honey badger, wolverine, tayra, yellow-throated marten and spotted and striped hyaena!

Will be watching developments here with great interest.

Sad news today as five newly arrived eurasian wolves escaped from their enclosure by digging under the fence !
At least one of the wolves escaped from the park, the others wandering in.
These wolves were coming from Riga Zoo.

The park has a press release indicating that there were 4 of 6 of their wolves that escaped and two had to be killed. The two others are still in the park but not catch.

New pictures of the park in an internet article :

Part of the 5.000 m² amur tigers enclosure (with the founder face - do not confused with the tiger :D)

Part of the 7.000 m² chinese dholes enclosure

An aviary but I don't know what it is for ?!

    The same here

Last saturday there was a demonstration by the department’s environmentalists at the entrance to the park to denounce the creation of this new zoo and commercial exploitation of animals.
A major concern seems to be the lodges where people can sleep and of course the death of the wolves.

I think that the "aviary" is for yellow-throated marten or siberian weasel

@twilighter The zoo is not open to the public at the moment and it's not clear what species/how many animals it has so it can explain it is not on ZTL. But feel free to put on ;)
