Are both tigers female? One was very active today in the ‘old’ enclosure whilst the other was sleeping in the new indoor room. The lions were very active too. Have the Margays gone completely again? Or did we just miss them (pointers to location would be nice if still there) Had a good day to day but can’t help feel it’s not as good as it was 10-15 years ago
It's only the female Margay, Sarah, that's left. The male moved to another collection. Sarah is currently in the enclosure behind wee beasties, previously home to the Greater Argus Pheasant.
Thanks, I had it in my head that it was Jambi that had died (He has only one eye?) Thank you, I couldn’t place where the GA Pheasant had been. Must pop back over and have a look. The baby tapir is just beginning to lose it’s stripey coat. It actually looks quite different with a ‘shadow’ adult coat under the stripes
It was the female tiger, Baginda, that passed away in December 2017. Jambi has both eyes, previous male Tibor had only one eye.
The last pair of smew has left the collection to Bird Gardens Scotland. Don't despair however as I have some exciting new about at least three new species of bird coming to Edinburgh. In Brilliant Birds, there is signage up for Omei shan liocichla, 1.0 White-winged wood duck is coming from Bird Gardens Scotland and 0.2 from Jersey in the near future and they are looking into adding red-whiskered bulbul to Brilliant Birds. So Edinburgh might just be starting to turn around. There was construction work going on in one of the enclosures in Enchanted Forest so a new species may be arriving there as well.

Has anyone heard anything about protesters at Edinburgh Zoo? Think they were there on the Easter weekend.

Was at the zoo today and noticed newest chimp Tupelo's picture was missing from the troops information chart. Later asked one of the volunteers what had happened and she explained that she was just found dead one morning and they are awaiting post mortem results i understand she was having a hard time settling and finding her place within the troop after not settling at Blair Drummond and being rejected by their alpha male. Seems likely she may have been attacked, does anyone else know anymore about this situation? Such a shame regardless
