Now and then, going through the elephant database, I stumble on details which rise questions. Today, when checking elephant transfers in 1922 (in hope to find a bull with the name Palm, that suddenly turns up on Ringling Bros Brnum & Baileys circus in septmber 1922) I stumbled on two different records of elephants imported to Taronga:

Its studbook nrs 8 and 10, with the name Chinnei and Jenny, arriving 15th of March 1922.

Jenny, an Asian elephant at Taronga Zoo

Chinni, an Asian elephant at Taronga Zoo

Both born 1917 unknown place, unkown origin, unknown exporter. The records are offial from Australasian Region Asian Elephant Studbook (2004) compiled by David Pepper-Edwards, Australia.

What made me think is the names, pronounced sounds pretty much the same. Chinni and Jenny, were they relly two different elephants?

Can anyone confirm that 2 elephants arrived this day, with such similair names?

Or, is it possible this was just one elephant?
