As mentioned before I wouldn't say they are being phased out and actually aren't leaving collections any more than species such as polar bears, chimpanzees and hippopotamus. The bad exhibits have been weeded out and many new better ones have been made.
Here are my assessments of the exhibits in NA:
Outstanding- North Carolina, Dallas, Disney's Animal Kingdom, Omaha, Sedgwick County
Excellent- Saint Louis, Reid Park, Indianapolis, Birmingham, Oregon, Los Angeles, Denver, Fresno Chaffee (African), San Diego Safari Park, National
Good- Oklahoma City, Rosamond Gifford, Miami, Columbus, Cleveland, Lowry Park, Cheyenne Mountain, Oakland, Kansas City
Average- San Diego, Bronx, Audubon, Toledo, Jacksonville, Granby, Rio Grande, Houston, Roger Williams Park, Pittsburgh
Weak- Louisville, Busch Gardens, El Paso, Riverbanks, Atlanta, Wildlife Safari, Seneca Park, Honolulu, Tulsa, Point Defiance, Hogle, Phoenix, Cincinnati, Knoxville, Montgomery, Maryland
Unacceptable- Memphis, Milwaukee, Buffalo, Buttonwood Park, San Antonio, Little Rock, Santa Barbara, Fresno Chaffee (Asian)
