Mote Founder (which is why this is under the Mote subheading) Eugenie Clark died February 25, 2014. She defied expectations of her time to become an authority on sharks and did much to dispel myths about these fascinating creatures. She lived quite a life, with a career that lasted the better part of a century. https://mote.org/news/article/remembering-the-shark-lady-the-life-and-legacy-of-dr.-eugenie-clark
On Monday her ashes were placed in the Gulf of Mexico along with flowers by her family with the use of one of Mote's research vessels. RIP Dr Clark.
