A recent meeting of oceanographers and space scientists discussed what needs to be done to explore the oceans on the moon of Jupiter, Europa, and moon of Saturn, Enceladus, for signs of life. The story is a fascinating story about what we are learning about life in our own oceans and how to explore it, and how that knowledge can be applied to extraterrestrial oceanography.
