Who has visited the Zoo recently and can tell me what species are on exhibit now in the Night Section of the Grizmekhouse, if possible, in the row in which they are being kept ?

Are the Quolls already on Display ? Thanks.

Two Young female Komodo Dragons are now on Display in the Grizmekhouse. So Frankfurt is now the second german zoo with them. Both Dragons came from the Usa via Leipzig to Frankfurt.

They are now in the largest exhibit in the daylight Section, which was used for Servals and then for Echidnas and Tawny Frogmouhth. These two species were moved to the Nighsection into the former Kiwi exhibit-I've seen them a couples of Weeks ago-the Echidna is very active now. Unfortunately, that means no Kiwis are on Show anymore, but they were always very hard to see. Mostly the Zoos has kept there a single male, which wasn't used for the breeding behind the Scenes.

I think, for the Visitors it is a better Option-the Echidna was in the daylight Section as good as never active to see, and the Kiwi was most of the time in it's nesting box, and his exhibit was empty-so since the Echida moved into that enclosure, its still not full of Live now, but I guess, he is more often to see than the Kiwi, and the Komodo Dragons are defenitely a Visitors Attraction-but they they still have to grow to become this.

The Komodo Dragons will move to another exhibit in the future, when they are to big for their present exhibit, and Kiwis can be seen,if the Zoo has chick, because they are doing a publing weighing with them. But no Chance to see the adult birds anymore.

The former Shoebill-Enclosure in the Birdhouse is at the time under reconstruction for Marabou Storks, they can also use the Outdoor exhibit. So unfortunately no new shoebills at Frankfurt.

Spectacled bear siblings were Born at Dezember 25 ! The Mother takes good care for them. They were sired at Zurich Zoo and they are the first bear offspring at that Zoo since 1990.

Heads torn off sounds like classic Fox attacks, but stabbings? Did the foxes use knives:D or was that just first scene of the crime impressions...

It was probably lost in translation … (you know that movie?)!

What it should probably have read is that the injuries looked suggestive of someone stabbing the birds … But this was before experienced wildlife vets made their full diagnosis and autopsy on the birds.

When the news first got out I immediately thought of fox or marten … (all though the Frankfurt Zoo is quite in the city …).

So did I- the multiple killing aspect sounded familiar with Foxes.

Interesting comment here to a Brit..Do Beech Martens (Martes foina) do much damage in urban zoos in Germany, or elsewhere on the continent?
