After theOPel-Zoo has build the new Elephant-Exhibit, no Money left for a new hippo exhibit. Of course they still want to build it, but it takes a few years until the start of construction.

How they can know , the vistor has mistook the tennisball with an apple ? Nobody knows, who did that-except the person itself, and nobody is stuipid enough, to mistook a tennisball with an apple...these people know excactly, what they do...

I think they mean the hippo mistook the ball for an apple.

Hippos swallow everyting, they are not able to make the diffrence between a tennisball and an apple, if they have it in their mouth-a hippo at Kronberg even has "eaten" a beer can.

By their nature these incidents must always be deliberate pranks by irresponsible visitors- no doubt without being aware of the tragic outcome they can potentially cause. Maybe they find out later that the animal died from their actions and it haunts them- at least that's what should happen. Unfortunately it doesn't stop someone else doing it again at another zoo.

2014 for is a very successful year for german okapis-also Frankfurt has a calf, a female named "Lindi", born September 21, but already on show, but only on screen. The breedingpair"Ahadi"and"Etana" came from Dvur Kralove to Frankfurt, and"Lindi"is their third calf.

Just to point out that "world's oldest orang-utan" is incorrect as there is an even older female still alive here in Australia (Puan at Perth).

The Zoo got two male west caucasian ibex from Berlin Zoo, two females will follow from Olumouc Zoo.They live now in the former takin exhibit-the zoo send the takins to Madrid Zoo, because it was too hot for them in Frankfurt, so Spain is much better for takins...The good thing is-should the ibex also ecaspe in Frankfurt as they did several times in Berlin, they won't be shot like in Berlin....

Female bonobo Kutu has given birth. Anyone shed some light on the gender of the baby? And if there's a name?
Usual suspects for who's the dad; either Ludwig or Heri.

This all changed yesterday, Tuesday 16 September. It's now waiting for the zoo to open and the news about one of the two babies. Yesterday it looked like one of them died, but later in the afternoon they saw that 'it' was alive and moving. But the zoo was very very very concerned.

Nobody knows so far what happened last night/this morning.
