The lynx have been allowed access to the old puma enclosure in addition to their own, saw them on both sides. First time I've heard a lynx vocalising.

Oh, just remembered, the raccoon enclosure was being refurbished. Don't know if this means they have gone or not, but didn't see any. And both sets of monkey species are still there, if looking quite elderly.

I Messaged Shepreth at the Start of the Year about the New Exhibits that were Coming this year they say that:

New Bug House (Now Called Hidden Treasures that Opened 30th May)
New Restaurant (Where Bug City Used to be)
    New Emu Enclosure
    And New Wallaby Walkabout

I was also Thinking Could Shepreth wildlife park be Expanded?

The wallaby walkthrough was being constructed during my visit in March, so should be near completion by now, if not already finished

I was there 2 days ago and the wallaby walk-through still wasn't open. The emu enclosure at one end of it had the emu in it, but held in by temporary movable fencing.
New bug/reptile house is nothing to shout about I'm afraid!
Saw a raccoon, in answer to the earlier comment. For the second time I only saw one lynx though.

I Asked Shepreth About New Exhibits Coming And they Told Me that The Next Exhibit that they are Working on is A New Tortoise Enclosure Next to the Discovery Centre.

They Plan To Get this New Enclosure Open By Winter 2016 but It is Unsure If The Tortoises are Giant Tortoises or Normal Tortoises, It they also said That it will be a African Themed Exhibit.

The New Enclosure is Also Featured on The New Shepreth Map, with the New Restaurant in the Visitor centre at the Entrance of the Wildlife Park

The Egyptian Tortoise will have a new enclosure this year, they are planning on opening the enclosure in the Easter and will be located next to the discovery centre

Rana the Tiger will be PTS tomorrow

"It is with great sadness that we announce we will be putting our much loved Rana to sleep tomorrow before we open.
Rana has been with us since 2001, and would have been 19 years old this summer.
He has been suffering with chronic arthritis for the past two years. His legs have finally reached the end and so we have made the painful decision, under the guidance of our specialist vet, to let him rest now.
As you can imagine the staff are all very upset and we would appreciate your understanding that we will be cancelling the daily Tiger Talk tomorrow.
Amba is still in good health and we will be monitoring her behaviour closely."

It came from Marwell - it was their last Ocelot.

This is good news for Shepreth, but yet more bad news for Marwell! It gets worse!

Very short visit today, hoping to get a Slow Loris photo more than anything (and was very lucky to arrive just after feeding). Ocelot was curled up asleep indoors, barely visible (at least, I think I could see her). Amba the Tiger darted about the enclosure for a few minutes as if she was being chased by her late partner. Raccoon enclosure not done yet. I didn't really look at anything else as it turned grey and miserable very quickly, although it was bright again by the time hit the A1, so went to Hamerton for a few minutes.

I assume you mean "for a few hours" :p

That said, I would argue that a few minutes at Hamerton can be much more fulfilling than a whole visit to Shepreth!

    Literally a few minutes :)
I was hoping to see the Grison again, or the Possum for once, but neither showed their faces. A quick stroll around noticing that the Malayan Tigers have swapped quarters, one of the Servals was locked in (last time I saw that, it turned out she was pregnant, I think) and the Otters are still rarely seen out (as well as the Binturong).

    For Hamerton, yes :)
It's only when the keeper mentioned the Red Pandas being at Shepreth 3 years that I realised that's how long since i'd visited before. It might be another 3 years before I visit again tbh ;)

"It is with great sadness that we announce the recent loss of Darma, our short-clawed otter, from age-related kidney complications.

Darma was 13 years old and had been with us for the last 11 years. She had a very strong character and many of our visitors loved her cheeky nature.

During her time at Shepreth, Darma had outlived several male friends, but had enjoyed her elderly time with companion Lahn.

She will be missed by all at Shepreth, and we know our visitors will miss her greatly too."

Shepreth are now advertising the same deal as Linton with their annual pass, though their annual pass costs £75 for an adult, £35 for a concession. That's 1) a very expensive annual pass for a small park and 2) a hell of a reduction for the concessions - less than half the price!

The pass excludes bank holidays, and offers 50% off entry to:
    • Africa Alive!
    • Amazona Zoo
    • Banham Zoo
    • Jimmy’s Farm
    • Linton Zoo
    • Paradise Wildlife Park
    • Raptor Foundation
    • Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens
    • Woodside Wildlife Park
