wow, that's a big surprise! The pandas only arrived at the zoo last year.

some articles on the cub being "returned" to China.

Ministry raps Zoo Negara over decision to send panda cub back to China (25 August 2016)

Goodbye Nuan Nuan (14 July 2017): " “If we wanted to keep Nuan Nuan, we would have to expand the Giant Panda Conservation Centre at Zoo Negara, on top of the yearly US$600,000 (RM2.5mil) fee and other expenses,” Dr Wan Junaidi explained."

Panda cub Nuan Nuan to return to China - Zoo Negara | Astro Awani (25 July 2017): "Nuan Nuan, the giant panda cub born in Zoo Negara will soon return to Chengdu when she turns two on Aug 18."

I'm not sure if Nuan Nuan has gone back to China yet or not (I can't find any articles saying so).

I will check the breeding recommendations, allthough most of these only refer to individuals in breeding centres and zoos in P.R. China and Hongkong / Macau.
