Christopher, Biffa, Grace and Mary have died within the last two years, the latter three being the oldest in the herd. Three giraffes went to Folly Farm a few months ago, and the group is down to seven; a breeding bull, three cows, two adolescents and a calf born last month.

Christa (f) and Tia (f) were both born in 2008 at Marwell. Tia is the last offspring of Mary. Both calf's were sired by Christopher before he died. 1 male calf has been born this year. His name is Kwame.

Rather than clog the current thread with pointless info i thought id ask here.

While searching for something else (Marwell related) I came across an interesting piece in an article from Heart radio about giraffe calf Olympia's birth. The radio could have just got it wrong but they stated that Olympia was Isabella's 3rd calf, I thought she only had 2 Kwame (2009) & Olympia (2012)? Did she lose one in between? Just asking as it's peaked my curiosity

In a Marwell news mag for 2012 it talks about Olympia as Isabellas third calf but does not mention the other two.

Cheers @okapis, Isabella must have lost a calf in between then. I'd just never heard anything mentioned prior so just presumed she only had 2 pregnancies.
